We are on Spring Break right now. Five days after Easter. Eight days into spring. Eleven days after St. Patrick's Day. And yet, here is the "special weather advisory" for Woodinville today:

SNOW ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT SATURDAY...
THE SNOW ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT SATURDAY.
A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING... THEN TAPER OFF TO SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 1 INCH ARE EXPECTED TODAY ON HILLS ABOVE 500 FEET. THIS EVENING... A PUGET SOUND CONVERGENCE ZONE COULD DEVELOP. THIS COULD BRING AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW TONIGHT.

End of March, you got a lot of guts threatening this sort of thing. And I am totally taking it personally. Especially since historically "convergence zone" actually means "where the Damatas live". This is a picture from last year, same week. You will notice that the sun is shining and no one is wearing any snow gear.

If we get any amount of accumulation, consider this my suicide note. And it will be all Lamar's fault. Just so you know.

I am a San Diego girl. When I first moved to Seattle twelve years ago, it was in September, and I just wanted to eat chili and put up a Christmas tree. I kept thinking I would wait for it to be less rainy before I did all my errands. Well, if I had waited to do that, I would still not have those errands done.

Not much has changed. I still do not go anywhere if there is snow on the ground. The words..."it is not bad, just slushy", or "it is only a little icy, as long as you go slow you will be fine" are of little comfort to me. In Southern California, rain is cause for massive pile-ups and hour long back-ups. I know and respect my driving limits. Plus, I can totally imagine myself stuck in a ditch in my Chryser with all four kids...that would be a suicide waiting to happen!

Plus, I hate to be cold. The only thing worse than being cold is being cold and wet. I cannot believe I am about to admit this, but I prefer the 27-degrees-but-totally-dry to the 45-degrees-but-raining-like-mad. Of course, that is like saying you prefer to be eaten alive by alligators to being eaten alive by sharks. Neither is actually preferable.

There is no real point to this particular blog. It is just an observation. When it is not sunny, I get very little done. I want to hibernate. And eat. A lot. The clouds and rain and snow and wind zap all my energy and weaken my resolve and make me sad. So maybe it really is my kryptonite...
